ian - i found your site by googling "baconator". you were the #2 result.
but guess what all you "they were exaggerating" naysayers, i was there on 42nd and lex working in grand central station and it was totally terrifying! that explosion was no joke! we're not talking about a smoking manhole, this was an initial blast of 72 stories!!!!!! later it tapered off to twenty stories, which is still HUGE. okay? okay, everyone? it was rush hour in midtown! the ground was shaking and the sidewalk was littered with the shoes of fleeing pedestrians. sure, it turned out to be not a big deal in terms of injury and cleanup, etc, but it was a GIANT EXPLOSION.

Of course it's exaggerated, first thing that comes to mind is the worst, this is not to mention how much time the media actually wastes on non-sense.

I agree, it was completely over exaggerated.

Although, the streets are still insanely shut down. You can't get within 4 or 5 blocks of the area, in either direction. My bank, Wachovia, is half a block away from it. Luckily I wasn't taking out cash, I walk by that corner every few days.

Then again, I still can't take out any money because of how few Wachovia's there are in Manhattan.
