Social Commentary Duex: Upper East Side

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

The Upper East Side is a familiar place to those who call it home, or others looking for a quaint and yet cozy place to relax, share good stories, drink cold beverages with friends.

To others, and I refer to these others as destroyers, mainly because they fit quite perfectly into the word “destruction” without too much modification. To these others, this is a very different place. Embark with me, my friends, on this wonderful tale of excitement, complaints, and glory. (Yes, glory!)

This destruction isn’t necessarily of the physical kind (although some physical destruction make take place) as it would be too boorish to use the term so bluntly.

These Destroyers take the night into hand and romp throughout the Upper East Side of Manhattan, grasping it within their clutches. Through what appears to be broken robotics, these mindless clones groove and move to the popular hip hop and rap beats of a year that has come to pass; And moved on with a fury, as much of the rap industry does. These pieces of music, way beyond abandoned, have become such… for a reason. A very good reason. This point is moot, however, so I digress.

These Destroyer Clones, move in an Attention Deficit Disordered fashion, as music pumps from beat to beat, sound to sound.

Social Commentary: Bars and Bar Flies

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

I don’t enjoy writing this type of entry because I feel like I am falling back into the days of LiveJournal. However, I feel that I must make this type of post once in a while. (Yay, LiveJournal)

I went out tonight, for the first time in a while. This to me, is more uncommon than not. I usually hang around with mostly people I know, and maybe one or two other people will accompany the group. I don’t really “hit up the bars” as some may call it.

Tonight was different from my typical experience. What I learned from tonight, is that socializing within the bar, is so superficial, so fake, and so utterly pointless. As I sat in the bar, drumming to the beat of the music, I looked around. I observed other people working in the social atmosphere in which they felt most comfortable. Many were trying to strike up conversations with unknown individuals. Some, possibly looking for a chance to “hook up”, spark a new relationship, find a friend in the most uncommon of common places.

Viva Las Fast Lane SEMA

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

Las Vegas was certainly an interesting place to visit. I’m not going to outright tell you that I enjoy it, because quite frankly, I didn’t.

I think Las Vegas is a pathetic city, if one can even call it a city. It’s more of a hub of stupidity designed to house lots of people for no specific reason. The only purposes, per se, are sex and money. Both are expected to consume much of your time while in the city of sin.

Regardless of the reputation, or the supposed deviations that must occur, this is the description of my trip. Hopefully pictures can summarize everything succinctly.

Day 1: Arrival in the hotel. We drive out onto the strip and shoot some b-roll for the introduction of Fast Lane Daily.

Day 2: SEMA does not begin until Tuesday, so in order to gain any footage, we walk the showroom floor in hopes of running into something cool. Luckily we did.

Upon walking onto the showroom floor, we bumped into this amazing Carrera GT, and the guy was kindly enough to offer revving it for us. That was great.

We get back to the hotel and I begin editing and preparing some basic things.

After getting some things done, we went to the Wynn Hotel to meet up with Brian, a Fast Lane Daily fan, and friend. While doing so, Kenny took a breather.

The next day comes, and Ashley Van Dyke makes her appearance.

After filming all sorts of things, I get back to the room and continue the daily grind that is on-the-road work. My editing cubicle, and view from the desk.

The next day is a big one. We have two interviews, and one proposed third interview.

50 Cent and Jerome Williams are first on the list. Ashley interviews them, and I film.
